Parental engagement is always difficult, especially so after Covid and being a special school, having no "school gates" for parents to chat/meet as our pupils arrive on Transport. This means we need to work harder with our social media and marketing. I found the session very informative. The chart relating to apps was really useful, plus the insight how a 27 year old sees Facebook. A lot of our parents are only a few years older so it is interesting to see the social media they probably view (and we don't currently use). I can easily capture photos of our pupils which is great. (Someone mentioned in the chat yesterday about photo permissions. Across our Federation, we have pupil photo permissions for 'Inside' school and 'Outside' school ie if a parent ticks both, it gives permission for everything - website, social media, publicity - no need to get additional permissions). For me, it is using the tech to change my raw images and videos into something good. I don't mind spending 30 minutes taking 16 photographs of classroom door displays at Christmas, but I loathe spending the rest of the morning uploading them to a video with editing and music. Practical tips yesterday from Luke ref AI was brilliant, genius! So I'm looking forward to the Canva session in November. I've not managed yet to work out how to blur a face on a video when they are moving in the background! I thought Luke was great at presenting yesterday.
